Toronto’s Black Lion released their track Miles Away on April 12, 2019
Featuring the soulful voice of Janel Sherise, song is reminisced to old school rap and hip-hop music.
The track is about consciousness, reflection and representing the “woke”, enlightened, socially and politically aware voice of the people, who are becoming increasingly aware and concerned with the general state of the world, the lyrics and vibe of Miles Away capture these emotions based on the experiences of the Lindo brothers. .
Have a listen.

Links is a rap/hip-hop artist from Orlando, Florida.
Today he released the single called Steps.
About the single:
Gifting the world with ‘STEPS’, the first release off his long awaited new album T.S.I.O., LINKS is trying to pass the word forward, advising those who are lost or unsure about what their next step should be to always have a plan. With a progressive trap beat and braced with LINKS’ genius lines and unique voice, ‘STEPS’ is in part quoting Benjamin Franklin: “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail” – A recurring theme in this album, cultivating growth and celebrating the process to success.

I don’t cover that much hip-hop but I was like why not this one because Myke Bogan is on this label called Eyrst Records.
That labels happen to have The Last Artful, Dodgr who I caught at Capitol Hill Block Party in Seattle.
Myke’s upcoming album Pool Party drops on August 18th.
Have a listen to the song Gravy which features Michael Christmas
Portland’s hip hop and r&b scene has really come into the public eye within the last year, and Eyrst Records, an imprint that was started by producer Neill Von Tally and former Portland Blazers player Martell Webster, is in the middle of that scene. The label’s next release is LA-by-way-of-Portland MC, Myke Bogan. Past Bogan releases hit the number 14 spot on iTunes Top 100 and the Bandcamp hip-hop charts the day it dropped, and he’s been covered by AllHipHop.com, The Source, Flood, Okayplayer.com, Hip Hop Weekly and even XXL’s The Break. He has successfully set the precedent for his stylized visuals and dynamic delivery, coupled with a charismatic and fiery persona, earning him more than 800,000 video views and landing on the same stage as hip-hop legends Snoop Dogg, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, and more. Myke played a bunch of festivals this summer and fall tour plans are firming up.
2016 is coming to an end and has come to this!
There were alot of great Canadian albums that came out this year.
So I am going to do the Top 50 Canadian albums of 2016 by individual post.
While the Top 16 will be revealed on my radio show.
Starting with #50 which is Drake‘s Views
You’re asking why #50 for an album that spent the most weeks at #1?
It’s going to be on everyone’s Top 10 list and I want to focus on lesser known while moving up the list.
The only redeeming tracks in the album are Feels No Way and Too Good.
While there are the bangers One Dance and of course Hotline Bling.
Trees (not to be confused with the other Ottawa band with the same name) are a young Ottawa based group which comprises of both members from
University of Ottawa and Carleton University.
Their musical sound is alternative hip-hop with our own brand of rap which
we call Existential-Rap (or Ex-Rap).
In addition, they tie in elements of
alternative rock and electronic into their progressive and unique sound.
