Timber Timbre – Sincerely, Future Pollution [Review]

Yay! My “favorite” artist returns with a new album!
I’m talking about Timber Timbre‘s Sincerely, Future Pollution.
This is the sixth album and it is an 180 to synth rock/pop from what are used to with the typical gothic folk rock.
To be honest I don’t feel connected to this record like I have with Hot Dreams from it’s steamy sleazy feel from it’s title track to the trip-hop vibe of The New Tomorrow.
The only redeeming thing is the drumming of Olivier Fairfield.
Remember talking to Boyhood last year that she heard some of the new material and how it was going to blow your mind.
Mentioning how one track sounded like Stevie Wonder, that happens to be the song Grifting.
It is kind of funky lit track and get you groovin’.
Overall I feel this album is mix between Dirty Beaches and Scattered Clouds and TOPS.
Think of this as a beautiful toxic dream to what Taylor’s future of the world will be visioned.

Best tracks:

  • Velvet Gloves & Spit
  • Grifting
  • Moments
  • Sewer Blues
  • Sincerely, Future Pollution

I’d give this album:
/10

MAVN’s Murder… At The Circus! Needs Your Help!!

Bonnie Doon‘s Leslie Marshall is almost an accomplished filmmaker.
They need help to achieve the “Perfect Look and Sound” for their second short video, “Murder at the Circus!”
Details about the film:

Murder…at the Circus! is a modern take on the old silent horror film.
Told through vivid colour, and a lush soundscape, the film peeps into the melancholic world of a travelling circus.
After months on the road, the drudgery of circus living is turned on its head one fateful night, when an eerie presence starts to meddle with the show!
There is murder no doubt, but who is killer?
And furthermore, is it a crime!?

In a film that hinges on its atmosphere, your support will allow them to devote their time needed for detailed colour correction and sound editing to make their film as spooky and hypnotizing as possible!
Please pledge to their Indigogo Campaign!? Their goal is $700!

The Acorn 014

Taken at Sounds Unlikely on September 24, 2007. Album release for Glory Hope Mountain!

Time flies by so quickly in the music scene.
One album in particular still has inspired people to listen with their heart’s contend on what is considered an autobiography to a Canadian immigrant story.
It is The Acorn‘s second full-length album Glory Hope Mountain.
Here are the details:
With expansive lyricism and a wide musical palate, it recounts the remarkable life of Gloria Esperanza Montoya, a Honduran refugee who overcame surreal and traumatic odds before fleeing to Montreal, Canada in 1972.
Based on months of conversations with her son, Acorn songwriter Rolf-Carlos Klausener, the album bridges art-pop, experimental folk, and the indigenous traditions of Honduras and the Garifuna.
It was nominated for the Polaris Music Prize in 2008, and garnered the band international tours with Bon Iver, Calexico, Fleet Foxes, and UK’s ELBOW, in addition to their own.

Strangely enough, I never did an album review of it.
But I did put it on my own best of the albums that came out in the 2000s.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of their seminal album Glory Hope Mountain, The Acorn will perform an exclusive hometown show on Saturday, April 22nd, at St. Alban’s Church.
Opening up for them is Montreal’s Un Blonde and featuring live projections by Ottawa media artist HARD SCIENCE, as well as special messages from Refugee 613, and the Embassy of Honduras.
Tickets are $10 advanced or $15 at door and it is All Ages/19+

DAVIDS (all in caps) released an EP back in January called 0117 EP.
Features their first single with vocals by Terra Lightfoot on Eyes Turn.
While I was hoping for the 80s New Order/Depeche Mode influenced track Crown of Burrs.
This song will do fine to show other ranges that Terra Lightfoot can do.
Have a listen to the song from their EP which is free to download.
