Montreal Tops seems the be the most underrated band at the moment.
Having three albums under their belt through Arbutus Records.
Their recent being Sugar at the Gate which was recorded in California than in Montreal.
Sugar at the Gates is 10 tracks of moody laid-back 80s poppy rock vibe.
I felt like this album had a sadder tone lyrically since some of the songs had a break-up feel to it.
While their last album Picture You Staring had a mix up of upbeat and slowness of Pop music.
Since they don’t have a track similar to Outside where you want to do some dance and think Top Gun.
Sugar at the Gate is a stronger album with it’s output with their musicality and lyrics.
One of my favorite albums to get in a sunny dreamy mood.
