Nutrients was formed in Montreal in 2015 by Malcolm Araos and Taylor Berce. The pair composed and released their debut EP, ‘Drag On’, in the heat of summer 2015. Their practice space, located in a vast basement underneath Boulevard St-Laurent, inspired many late-night recording sessions.
After re-locating to Toronto in summer 2016, the two began writing and recording their debut album, “What Tangled Webs We Weave”, which is to be released on September 29th, 2016. The album is composed of 12, short, jangly guitar-driven pop songs.
Those who enjoy bands like Real Estate, Beach Fossils and Wild Nothing will find some similarities in Nutrients. Their sound is perhaps more influenced by contemporary Canadian guitar bands like Each Other, Mac Demarco, and TOPS.
Nutrients will release “What Tangled Webs We Weave” on September 29th down the street from their house at Toronto’s The Central so that they can take part in saying goodbye to Honest Ed’s. This show is also featuring Montreal bands Special Treats and Pee Wee, and local Toronto singer-songwriter Charise Aragoza.
